Hair Study.

It is very difficult to draw hair and make it look natural...and...well, good, for lack of a better word. Rather than drawing in each strand, I've seen artists get general shapes of the hair and work with the highlights and shadows within those shapes. I am always impressed when an artist can make hair come alive on a piece, and I felt like doing a quick study of some curly/wavy hair. You have to figure that each strand has highlights/lowlights and casts shadows. But, you can't really draw each one. So, you have to take some artistic license and make it work the best way you can. Working in ink, you can't get many mid-level shadows without adding many lines for shading. So, trying to work around that without adding all those extra lines gets tricky.

But, when it comes out well, it's a good feeling, and I like this little study.

Oh, and lookie here...this is my 100th post. So, yeah. There you go.

Finished Size: about 3" x 4"
